This third fight was supposed to erase any doubts in the minds of the fans and for the fighters to know who really is the better one between them.
Instead, it created another set of controversies
At their first meeting in May 8, 2004, Marquez came back to salvage a draw despite having been knocked down three times in the first round. The second meeting on March 15, 2008 was even more controversial with Pacquiao winning via split decision. Pacquiao knocked down Marquez in the third round and many felt that that was his saving grace in the fight.
On November 21, 2011, Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez met for the third time. There were no knockdowns this time. But, controversies still abound.
Pacquaio defeated Márquez via Majority Decision but most of the audience and boxing experts believe that Marquez was the winner. According to CompuBox, Pacquiao is the better fighter. The judges’ scorecards will also reflect that.
Judge Robert Hoyle scored it a draw, 114-114. But judges Dave Moretti and Glenn Trowbridge had it 115-113 and 116-112 respectively.

Despite having enjoyed an 8-1 odds from the so-called experts, Pacquiao still wasn’t able to convince everyone that he is the better fighter than the Mexican.
He even suffered a cut from an accidental headbutt which required 28 stitches to close.
An unprecedented fourth fight between the two warriors is being planned for May 2012.
