The controversial third fight between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez is a big hit on the pay-per-view market as it drew 1.4 million buys.
That figure stands as the highest for both fighter’s careers especially for Pacquiao whose previous high was last May when he drew 1.3 million PPV buys in his win over Shane Mosley.
This will stand out to be a big bargaining chip for Pacquiao once a highly-anticipated fight with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. happens as Pacquiao vs Marquez III generated more buys than Mayweather’s last fight with Victor Ortiz having made ‘only’ 1.25 million buys.
Top Rank President Todd duBoef said that the strong Latino support for Marquez helped drive the pay-per-view sales.
Pacquiao defeated Marquez via Majority Decision on their third fight held last November 12, 2011, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.

An unprecedented fourth fight between the two warriors is being planned for May 2012. If the deal won’t go through, Pacquiao is expected to fight the man everyone is hoping he would face, Mayweather.
The Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight is expected to break all pay-per-view records once it happens.

The current record holder goes to the Mayweather vs dela Hoya fight held last May 2007 with 2.4 million PPV buys and with over $120 million in generated revenue.
Bob Arum will be traveling to Manila in January to meet with Pacquiao to discuss his possible opponents for 2012.
