Sixteen months after his last fight, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. returns to HBO Pay-Per-View to fight WBC Welterweight Champion Victor Ortiz on September 17, 2011 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
His previous fight was with Shane Mosley on May 2010 which was also presented by HBO.
The Mayweather vs Ortiz fight is a boon for HBO, since it will now air fights involving Manny Pacquiao and Mayweather within two months of each other.
Pacquiao will fight Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12 in Las Vegas on HBO Pay-Per-View.

As part of the promotion for this pay-per-view boxing event, HBO Boxing will prepare a 24/7 TV series special to highlight Mayweather and Ortiz’s training and preparation for the bout as well as a glimpse of their personal lives.
Each fighter will also be featured on the next installment of the Emmy-nominated HBO series Ring Life. They have also previously sat down in a Face Off With Max Kellerman last July.
