Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Begins 90-Day Jail Sentence

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. surrenders last Friday, June 1 to begin his 90-day jail sentence, following a guilty plea for a domestic violence case involving his ex-girlfriend.

He was originally sentenced last January but Las Vegas County judge Melissa Saragosa allowed his incarceration to be postponed until June 1 because Mayweather has a contract obligation to fulfill on May 5; which was his Cinco de Mayo fight with Miguel Cotto.

Mayweather pleaded guilty in December to misdemeanor domestic battery and no contest to two harassment charges in a hair-pulling, arm-twisting attack on Josie Harris, the mother of three of his children. The plea deal allowed him to avoid trial on felony charges that could have gotten Mayweather up to 34 years in prison if he was convicted.

Mayweather’s jail stay will be capped at 87 days, because the judge gave him credit for three days previously served. It could be reduced by several weeks for good behavior.

When he comes out, let’s all hope a November fight with rival Manny Pacquiao is finally on.

His current girlfriend Shantel Jackson tweeted his jail ID and address below:
